Zinc
Zinc(chemical symbol Zn atomic number 30)
Properties of Zinc
Zinc has a significantly low melting point among the metals at around 420℃, so it has an extremely high thermal expansion coefficient – three times that of iron. In Europe, zinc and zinc alloys are often used in roofs and gutters but in Japan it is rarely used in roofs due to the issues of incombustibility and heat expansion. Zinc is used as an anti-corrosive measure on steel and zinc-plated steel sheets (steel sheets with a thing zinc plating) are often used in buildings, automobiles and household electronics. As well as being used in sacrificial protective zinc plates, it is also used in brass and German silver alloys and as an anode in dry batteries.
